Shelby and I got to spend time with my family in Indio, CA this year. It was so much fun! Indio is gorgeous and it was actually warm enough to go swimming. But I'll get back to that later. :-)

Here's Shelby and Grandpa. :-) How cute. Granpa, Ivanna, Mary, Shelby, and I all went to Border's and did some shopping and got to look at all the cool books. I even bought some for Shelby!

We all celebrated our Christmas a few days early. Here's a picture of Mary kissing her presents from me. And here's a picture of Shelby getting a bath. She LOVES bath time!

Shelby and Grandma got to do a lot of playing while we were in Indio. And Shelby got to go swimming! They had a kiddie pool that was only a foot deep and Shelby was able to sit up all by herself (with me holding her just in case of course). It was soooo fun!
My little angel looks so pretty with her headband. :-) And she got to ride on Zachary's truck when we went to Tina and Justin's house.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Shelby's first Christmas was very eventful. We started out the morning opening presents of course. Shelby got the majority of them. LOTS of new toys and LOTS of new clothes. And quite a few giftcards. :-) We got to spend Christmas evening with Dan and his family (very fun and quite entertaining).
Shelby really likes her new toys. :-) We, as a family, really enjoy hiking. So Geoff and I took a trip to Castle Rock with Rob and Alana. Shelby really got a kick out of it. She was awake almost the entire time (we were hiking for like 5 hours). Only at the very end did she pass out from sheer exhaustion.
I love our little family. Sometimes I can't really believe it. :-) On our hike we came across a pretty cool mossy rock, so of course I made everyone pose by it.

Alana took a little bit of a bottom spill (laughing the whole way down too). And Geoff climbed up a really big rock and acted like king of the hill!

Alana, Shelby and I were lucky enough to freeze our bottoms off on a rock while Rob and Geoff walked back to the car and returned to pick us up. Shelby is 6 months old now so she got to go to the doctor's office. That was definitely exciting. When the doctor came in, she witnessed Shelby sitting up by herself (completely unsupported) and she noticed that she was able to sit by herself for almost the entire time. She said that Shelby is very strong and looking to be a little advanced. Most babies can't do that til at least 7 months. Also, she weighs 17 pounds, 1 ounce and is 27 inches long. She is quite the babbler these past few weeks and can now push herself up into a sitting position when she is laying on her belly. She doesn't roll very much but she scoots all over the place and kinda crawls. She pushes her butt in the air and scoots backwards. So cute.

Shelby and her new toy. She loves standing up and hanging on to it. She is such a happy baby and always laughing or babbling or scooting or bouncing or gnawing on things. Speaking of which...SHELBY HAS HER FIRST TOOTH!!!! It's so exciting! It's broken through the skin and is in the process of coming in. :-) yay!

New Year's Eve was spent with the Bauer kids and the Johnson Family. We all went to Chuck E Cheese and had so much fun. The kids were great and the pizza was good too! We then went back to the Bauer's House and watched Anastacia and then tuned into the ball dropping in Times Square. I love New Year's.

Here the kids are in the car on the way back from Chuck E Cheese. And then here's a picture of me and Shelby getting ready to ring in the New Year.

New Year's is the best. I love fresh beginnings and new experiences. My goal this year is to be the best mom I can be (and to maybe lose the rest of my baby weight). My little angel is the best thing that has ever happened to me and Geoff.
By the way, this July will be our 5th wedding anniversary. Yay!
Some goals for 2009:
*Go to New York and visit Geoff's family! (Shelby will get to meet everyone!)
*Celebrate Shelby's FIRST birthday!
*Celebrate 5 years in a big way (maybe Hawaii???? I guess we'll have to wait and see)
I hope to see more of everyone in 2009! Love, The Kniesch Family
