A visit from Grandma and Grandpa Kniesch

Herman and Nancy (aka Grandpa and Grandma) arrived on July 24th and leave tomorrow July 29th.

Here is a little summary of the events we attended. :-)

Thursday - Thursday evening they came over and got to meet their little Shelby. We just hung out at home and caught up on what's been going on in our lives.

Friday - We went to the GARLIC FESTIVAL!!! It was a lot of fun. We arrived there around 10 a.m. and took a shuttle bus to the festival. It was HUGE! We spent a lot of time walking around and looking at all the little booths and we ate lots of food with TONS of garlic! The garlic fries were SPICY! haha! We all got a lot of sun but all in all it was a blast. After we got home, we all took a nap and then headed out to RED ROBIN! I was so stoked because...RED ROBIN HAS BOCA BURGERS!!! Woohoo!! Being vegan can be a challenge when eating out. But I've discovered that many of my FAVORITE restaurants have Boca Burgers!

Saturday - We went to the Parade of Sails in San Francisco! I LOVE old boats and we had a lot of fun walking around and taking pictures and boarding all the cool boats. I seriously haven't seen SF that crowded in a LONG time. It was definitely stop and go traffic if you were walking. We had some Fish and Chips (I of course just had fries, lol) and we got to check out Pier 39. The weather was absolutely spectacular! It was sunny and a little breezy and at least 70 degrees (if not more).

Sunday - HOLLISTER HILLS BABY!!! We had soooo much fun! I've never seen two people have more fun! Herman and Nancy were just lovin it! :-) And of course Geoff was having a blast giving them the ride of their lives. Shelby and I got to chill at the camp area and hang out. We've got tons of pics too!

Monday - Day trip to Monterey! Monterey was overcast but beautiful as always. We enjoyed the drive and were salivating over the artichokes before we even entered town. :-) We drove to Cannery Row and did some shopping and I introduced my in laws to Dip and Dots ice cream! They really enjoyed it too! Then we headed to Fisherman's Wharf and got some food. (They had the best home made root beer called Sparky's) After Monterey we stopped by an Artichoke stand and got some Artichokes. Then we headed home for some naps and went to dinner at El Amigo Burrito.

Tuesday - So far nothing has happened but our plan is to go to the Winchester Mystery House. :-) I'll keep you posted.

Shelby Update

Shelby is such a happy baby now and is always looking around and smiling. She's even giggled a few times. She's a very peaceful baby and only makes a fuss when she's hungry. We are VERY lucky. :-) She looks more and more like her dad everyday and I love it! She's a big eater and eats about every 2 and half hours to every 3 hours. Occasionally when she's really hungry she'll eat every hour. She really is starting to fill out and will soon no longer be our little string bean. :-) Here are some cute pictures!

A little snip...

When Shelby was born, she was born with the ligament underneath her tongue too close to the tip of her tongue and it was also too short. Because of this, she couldn't stick out her tongue and when she breastfed, she had to use a lot of suction. We took her to the doctor to have them snip the ligament and make it easier for her to eat and also to allow her to play reed instruments when she's older. It was a simple procedure and relatively painless for her. They numbed it before hand with a numbing paste and then they just snipped it. Barely any blood and it'll heal very quickly.

Shelby Trip To Sacramento

Shelby and I drove to Sacramento to visit my family. It was the first time she got to meet her cousin Barrett. He was a very loving cousin! Lots of kisses for Shelby! :-) She also got to meet her Aunt Andrea and a family friend, Toni. :-) We did a lot of hanging out and admiring my daughter. It was fun. We will be making another trip in a few weeks (July 23rd). I'll do another update then. :-)

Shelby's First Doctor Appointment

This won't be a long post...just updating you guys on her progress.

Shelby was born weighing 8lbs 7.6oz and was 20.5" long. Within a few days she lost a bit of weight and got down to 7lbs 12oz. So from June 26 to July 15 she gained a bit of weight. She weighed in at 9lbs 130z and was 21.5" long at her doctor's appointment! Woohoo! She's growing fast and she is awake more and more each day. :-) She was in the 75% for height and weight and is exactly where she needs to be. Yay for Shelby!
